Sweden | Northern Lights (23 Feb - 2 March 2025)

Day wise itinerary specially designed by Wander Womaniya for women traveling solo
 
Day 1: Välkommen Till Sweden
 
Arrive at airport & meet the group and tour buddy from Wander Womaniya. Overnight at a hotel in Stockholm. Today is a free day to acclimatize. 
 
Connect over welcome dinner.
 
Day 2: Stockholm City
 
Post breakfast we will head to explore the Royal Palace followed by a short walking tour of Gamla Stan (Old Town). We will have a local guide explain about the city and history.
 
Overnight at Stockholm 
 
Day 3: Stockholm to Kiruna
 
After breakfast, we will checkout & head to airport for our domestic flight to Kiruna. 
 
Nestling some 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, Kiruna is a gem of a city that forms part of Swedish Lapland – an enormous area covering about a quarter of Sweden. Kiruna also has cultural and historical significance as part of Sápmi – the traditional home of the indigenous Sámi people – that extends beyond the national border.
An outdoor enthusiast’s dream destination, Kiruna is surrounded by varied and vast terrain – from deep forests and expansive marshes to lakes, rivers and mountains
 
Evening is free to gear up with supplies that you might need for the extreme cold weather.

Day 4: DOG SLEDDING IN WINTER WONDERLAND
 
Post breakfast we will do a dogsledge tour.
 
A visit to Lapland is not complete without a dog sledding adventure. You will sit comfy and relaxed on warm reindeer skins in a big wooden sled, ready to explore the wonderful winter landscape, the sled will be driven by one of our guides who will take you through the sparkling frozen winter wonderland with old pine tree forests, frozen lakes and swamps. We recommend wearing your own thermal underwear and warm socks.

Day 5: Chasing Aurora / Northern Lights
 
Post breakfast we recommend you to rest and sleep well during the day. You can explore Kiruna on your own as we have the night northern lights chasing tour. 
 
Abisko is considered one of the best places on earth to see the northern lights. This is because the area is in rain shadow from the Atlantic’s humid air and often has clear weather.
 
We will drive with the minibus towards Abisko nationalpark. Abisko National Park is located in the far northern part of Sweden, with only Vadvetjakka National Park being further north. It rests near the border of Norway. The park covers an area of 30 square miles (77 sq km). The park extends from Tornetrask Lake up through 121 miles (195 km) inside the Arctic Circle. We will go untill the point enroute Abisko where we can spot the northern lights. The local guide takes a decision on direction and location for spotting the northern lights.

Please note: Starting time for Aurora hunting is dependent on weather and is subject to change and we will try our best to spot the northern lights but it is not guaranteed that you will be able to see the northern lights. Thats why we are staying for 2 nights to get maximum chances of Northern Lights sighting. 
 
Day 6: Free Day / Kiruna Mine 
 
Post breakfast we will take you to Kiruna mine. A show mine that the Lonely Planet international guide book gave its highest rating. LKAB is facing the biggest transformation in the company’s 130-year history. This could become the biggest industry investment ever in Sweden and is the most efficient contribution Sweden can make in lowering global emissions. LKAB’s strategy paves the way for zero carbon dioxide emissions from our own processes and products by the year 2045 and secures the company’s operations beyond the year 2060. (The Entry to LKAB is optional and costs around 500 SEK / per person)
 
Alternatively you can do a trip like snowmobile tour or visit the Ice Hotel. There are lot of activities which you can opt for today depending on your interest. 
 
Overnight at Kiruna.

Day 7: Back to Stockholm 
 
Post breakfast get dropped at the airport for your return flight to Stockholm City, upon arrival get transferred to your hotel. 
 
Day 8: Goodbye Sweden
 
Post breakfast you will be dropped to the airport for your flight back to India.

Please note: There is no guarantee to see the Northern Lights, it is a rare phenomenon and that is why we have taken out 2 nights to hunt the Aurora. We will try our best to cover it.
