Day 1 Welcome to Tanzania
Arrive at Arusha Airport & meet your tour buddy along rest of the group. Upon a tiring journey to reach to this part of the world we will check in to our hotel in Arusha. Overnight in Arusha Hotel along with Dinner.
Day 2 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Post an early breakfast, we will go Tarangire National Park.
The Park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forest. The Park is well known for its elephant families, which can often be seen congregating by the river. You may also see giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, including lions and leopards. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet!
After Lunch and an extensive game drive, we head to our accomodation at Karatu.
Day 3 NGORONGORO CRATER - Spot the Rhino
Early morning after breakfast, we depart to Ngorongoro crater. When you first see Ngorongoro Crater, it looks like a forgotten world. Concealed by the steep volcanic walls is a pristine wilderness including sweeping savannah, pockets of acacia woodland, and glistening lakes and swamps.
The Crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. It is famous for both its geological delights and for being a natural reserve which is home to some of the densest large mammal populations in the whole of the African continent. The drive down the into the Crater is an adventure in itself and when you reach the Crater floor, you quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The Crater provides you with the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands.
Overnight at Karatu
Day 4 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, drive to the nearby Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing drive. Your first encounter will probably be sporting large troupes of the baboon. With luck, you may spot the tree climbing lions which are common in this Park. Visit Lake Manyara an alkaline soda lake and home to the pink flamingo and other bird species. Hippos can also be spotted by the lake. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site.
After lunch drive back to Arusha and on to Arusha Airport in time for your schedule flight to Zanzibar Airport. On arrival you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to Zanzibar Stone Town.
Zanzibar has a rich history, and it became a centre of trade once it was settled by the Portuguese in the 16th and 17th Century. Zanzibar once held the title of being Africa's major hub of trade before the mainland became more settled and tamed (if Africa could ever be considered tamed). Zanzibar is also known as the 'Spice Island' due to this period when spice was its major trade, followed closely by the slave trade and ivory. Zanzibar still today flourishes with the trade of spices, its most common exports being cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and pepper.
UNESCO listed Stone Town is rich in history and culture, with a labyrinth of narrow streets, bustling bazaars and ancient buildings. The architecture is a fascinating mix of Swahili, Arab, Persian, European and African styles, testament to the influence that trade brought to the region.
Overnight at Stone Town
Day 5 NORTH COAST OF ZANZIBAR (NUNGWI)
Post breakfast, we will head to the coast of Zanzibar known as Nungwi which has the kind of white coral sand that seems to glow even after nightfall. Nungwi’s expansive coastline is wide open for swimming and snorkeling in some of Africa’s most pristine, reef-rich waters. It’s one of the rare Zanzibari beaches untroubled by severe undulations of high and low tides, making it perfect for all-day water activities. Deep-sea fishing near Nungwi is top-notch, with opportunities to catch kingfish, Dorado, yellow fin tuna, and enormous striped marlin from the Indian Ocean. Soak in the ocean and take the day easy.
Overnight at Zanzibar Hotel
Day 6 Snorkeling trip to Mnemba Island
Post the wildlife tours in the north, its time for some aquatic exploration. Experience a magical underwater world as Mnemba provides the snorkeler with the opportunity to view the best fish the Indian Ocean has to offer. A marine reserve, well known for its fish life like lionfish, moray eels, stingrays, and turtles swimming around in the shallows. Venture further out the reef drops away into a big reef wall inhabited by schools of giant trevally and emperor fish hunting, yellow snappers, barracuda, and if possible napoleon fish and turtles.
The snorkeling trips are accompanied by an experienced guide who will help you find the fish, answer any questions you have about them, and ensure you are safe and comfortable. Non Swimmers can also do it.
